Is your child firing on all cylinders? Do you have a child that struggles to learn? Are they diagnosed with dyslexia, ADD or ADHD or any other vegetable soup diagnosis? Have you wondered how you are going to deal with learning challenges and difficulties in your own children as you homeschool and how they will ever learn all they need to know? Have you ever wondered if there are strategies out there to build a better brain? Glean from Lisa's 8 years of homeschooling experience teaching a severly dyslexic child with perceptual motor issues, who did not learn to read fluently until she was 12, as well as a Perfect Paula who could read a newspaper in 1st grade, but could not do algebra. Learning glitches can happen at any time. All parents will be encouraged and take away valuable information on finding new pathways into their child's brain, whether they struggle a little or a lot.

Reading for Life ~

What is a living book?  Why are they better than other books?  Can my children really learn what they need to know solely from books?  How do I use living books to breathe life into my curriculum?  If my children read all day, how do I know what they are learning?  When do we find time to read?

Liz and Emily Cottrill of Living Books Library will be addressing these and other questions and concerns as well as discussing the library they have built and other unique opportunities for using living books in your home school.  Liz and Emily will be sharing how to transition your children from memorizers of facts and worksheet zombies into self-motivated lifelong learners.  They will also be discussing ways to encourage apathetic readers to become enthused about books and learning.  Come prepared to get excited about great books!

Father-Led Home Education: The Path to Freedom for Weary Homeschool Moms ~

With so much pressure to do hyper-planning and to live up to everybody else's expectations, there are few voices out there telling Mom to listen only to her husband's leading. Father-led home education gives Mom the freedom to seek to please only one person, rather than the "experts", the relatives, society, the check-out clerk, the government schools, etc.

Homeschool Psych:
Preparing Christian Homeschool Students for Psychology 101.

If you have never thought about academic psychology, your Christian worldview, and homeschooling in the same thought, Dr. Tim Rice will invite you to consider whether psychology has a place alongside biology, chemistry, and physics in your high school student’s education.

Dr. Tim believes that it is dangerous that most Christian homeschool students get their first exposure to modern psychology in college. Christian parents should prepare their children to recognize the worldview assumptions underlying modern psychology and, as we do with the evolutionary assumptions underlying modern biology, be sure our students can approach psychology’s content from a Christian perspective.
