Special Worship Music - Steve Sensenig 

Worship the Lord with music and praise with Steve Sensenig.  Steve is a homeschool dad, passoinate about praising the Lord in music and song and a phenomenal worship leader. He is on the faculty of the School of Music at Appalachian State University as an Adjunct Instructor and is Musical Director for all musical productions at Blowing Rock Stage Company, a professional stage company in nearby Blowing Rock.

Special Guest ~  HSLDA Attorney Dewitt Black

Dewitt Black received his Juris Doctor degree in 1973 from Memphis State University School of Law and his Master of Laws degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979. He has been practicing law for 33 years and serves Tennessee homeschoolers at HSLDA. Dee joined Home School Legal Defense Association in 1990 as Senior Counsel. For the past 16 years, he has been responsible for legal matters involving the association’s members in as many as 17 states. Dee and his wife, Ricci, have four children, all of whom have been homeschooled.

Lisa enjoys encouraging and equipping women, has a passion for homeschooling and understands the unique demands of home educating through learning disabilities, health challenges, running a family business, the busyness of life and schedules and now a cross country move. She writes a homeschool column for FamilyPastime Magazine. The Baughns have created the Tri-Cities Midwinter Homeschool Convention to encourage, edify and equip homeschooling parents in their unique journey.

 

Liz Franklin - ItsTime4u.org

Elizabeth Franklin, author and motivationalist, has spend the last fifteen years teaching people how to appreciate and utilize their time. Liz pours her time into the lives of college youth and children in ministry, is a home educator, and does scheduling/bookkeeping for her husband’s business, and conducts workshops and speaks in churches on time. She is currently focusing attention on writing a children’s Bible, a children’s Christian adventure series, a children’s time curriculum, and conducting college, kids, and homeschool mom time workshops.
 

Liz & Emily Cottrill - Living Books Library

Liz Cottrill and her daughter Emily manage a private lending library for homeschoolers in the Tri-Cities area.  Liz is currently homeschooling her last three of six children and has been homeschooling since 1986.  Emily, her oldest daughter is a graduate of Wheaton College and teaches art privately along with writing the "Understanding the Arts" column in Homeschooling Today.  The Cottrills' Living Books Library offers 8,000 living, out-of-print books that are not found in the public library systems as well as complete unit studies for young children and specialized consultations for homeschooling families that would like to use living books in their curriculum.  Over 40 families are members of the library that is operated out of their home and they enjoy seeing the spark of learning ignited in the lives of close to 150 children!

  

Dr. Tim Rice – Homeschoolpsych.com

One of the first courses Tim took in college (almost 30 years ago) was Psychology 101. He was not prepared to refute the worldview assumptions hidden deep in the theories he learned. In Homeschool Psych: Preparing Christian Homeschool Students for Psychology 101, Dr. Tim compares and contrasts a Christian worldview with the theories and assumptions of modern psychology and provides an overview of introductory psychology though a Christian worldview. Dr. Tim has a Doctorate of Ministry in Family Counseling and spent 12 years working with adults and children in a government mental health center. Dr. Tim and his wife Tina live in rural north Georgia homeschool their four children ranging from 7 years to 18 years old.

 

Jim Bob Howard & Steve Murphy Homeschooling Today  

Jim Bob Howard is the Editor-in-Chief of Homeschooling Today magazine. Jim Bob has worn many hats, having served homeschoolers in several capacities: as a regional support group board member, conference host, newsletter editor, and writer. Amy is the gracious helpmeet of Jim Bob, and assists him in his role as Editor-in-Chief. A regular contributor to Homeschooling Today's Hearth and Homeschool column, Amy is still amazed that God uses her to offer encouragement to other women in their role as wife and mother.

Steve Murphy is the Publisher of Homeschooling Today magazine. Steve is leading the charge to exhort homeschooling fathers and husbands to assume their God-given duty to be the leaders of their homes, including sanctifying their wives and educating their children. Steve's chief helper, Kara is mother to seven boys and one girl. A wife, mother, and homemaker, she serves as a staff editor for Homeschooling Today magazine. After her first priority of being a loving wife and mother, her passion is encouraging young homeschooling mothers in their journey.
